For over two decades, I have been continuously active in both patient care as well as research and academic teaching at the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the Vienna General Hospital (AKH). I bring these diverse experiences from university-level tertiary care to the interdisciplinary team at the malacht medical center to provide comprehensive care for families in a personal, outpatient
setting.

- Specialization: Acquisition of the official sub-specialization diploma in pediatric cardiology and clinical and scientific specialization in coagulation disorders in childhood and adolescence.
International stays abroad:
- Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto, Canada): Advanced specialization in the field of coagulation disorders and pediatric strokes.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Among other duties, I manage the coagulation clinic (Deputy Head) and perform on-call and consultative services in the field of pediatric cardiology and coagulation disorders.
Specialist Clinic for Coagulation & Thrombosis: Work in the coagulation clinic includes consultations for hemophilia (bleeding disorders), congenital and acquired bleeding tendencies, thrombosis, as well as coagulation problems and complications in patients with complex diseases. This includes close cooperation with AKH departments (including surgical fields such as ENT, pediatric surgery, and orthopedics) as well as advising external hospitals in Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland, Upper Austria, and Tyrol in cases of coagulation problems in children.
-Additionally, medical supervision of the Hemophilia Summer Camp for children (from Austria, South Tyrol, Switzerland) with coagulation disorders
Research and academic teaching:
- Scientific Publications: Active participation in clinical studies with around 30 publications in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- I am continuously involved with publications on “Thrombosis in Childhood” (Deutsches Ärzteblatt, 2024), articles and interviews in the field of “Hemophilia in Childhood” on the topics: “New Therapies, Management in Everyday Life, School and Sports” (including the newspaper “Der Standard” September 2025 and February 2026), further recent publications in Universum Innere Medizin May 2026, Non-factor therapies in hemophilia (Haemostaseology, June 2026) and “Hemophilia in Childhood” (Austrian Medical Journal, June 2026).
- University Teaching: Ongoing training of medical students at the Medical University of Vienna through lectures and seminars focusing on the coagulation system and pediatric cardiology.
- Regular training for colleagues in the field of coagulation disorders: “Pediatric Haemostasis Summer School” once a year, AKH Haemostaseology course once a year, HaemMotion course for physiotherapists twice a year (together with colleagues from Germany)
- Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Austrian Hemophilia Society
- For Austria, I am involved in guideline commissions on the topics of “Thrombosis Guidelines” and “Long-Covid in Children” (DACH countries)

AREAS OF FOCUS
- Pediatric Cardiology: Specialist clarification of heart murmurs, congenital heart defects, heart rhythm disorders, and cardiological follow-up care for children and adolescents.
- Pediatric Hemostaseology (Coagulation):
In the field of thrombosis, we offer consultations regarding diagnostics, investigation of risk factors (thrombophilia diagnostics), and therapy planning (duration of anticoagulation, secondary prophylaxis, risk of recurrence). Care and advice for ongoing anticoagulation, e.g., after deep vein thrombosis, sinus vein thrombosis, or after heart valve replacement, is also offered.
For diseases with an increased bleeding tendency, including hemophilia and von Willebrand syndrome, clarification and consultation are possible in the practice. Further care should be coordinated together with a specialist clinic. - Children with arterial stroke: Laboratory clarification (if necessary, thrombophilia diagnostics) and advice on drug therapy can be offered. Otherwise, care should be provided primarily and in cooperation with pediatric neurologists.
- General Pediatric Preventive Care: Performance of preventive check-ups (Parent-Child Pass) and clarification of general pediatric issues.
DIPLOMAS / CERTIFICATES

- Additional Diploma in Pediatric Cardiology: Recognized proof of cardiological specialization in childhood.
Specialization in pediatric patients with coagulation disorders. - School Physician Diploma: Valid diploma from the Austrian Medical Chamber.
